Top Tip Tuesday – How SEO Can Help NGO’s Increase Traffic

NGOs are like any other organisation in that they need customers (or in this case donors) in order to thrive. And in a digital age, one of the best ways for NGOs to get more donors is to boost their online presence through SEO.

In today’s Top Tip Tuesday video, Amrita explains why investing in SEO can pay off big time for NGO’s.

SEO Tips for NGOs

  1. Use the right keywords: Include keywords that match the language of your target visitors and that also align with your mission statement, values and goals.
  2. Obtain links from partner organisations: It is quite common for NGOs to have partnerships with other major organisations. One great way to leverage these partnerships for SEO is to obtain links from these high-value domains that point to your domain.
  3. Optimise your landing pages: In addition to including the basics like keyword optimised title tags and meta descriptions, your landing pages should contain a clear call-to-action, persuasive marketing copy and a good amount of visual material and white space.
  4. Get active on social media: Evidence suggests that Facebook likes/shares, Tweets and Google +1s are important ranking signals. So if your organisation isn’t active on social, get out there and get posting! Events provide a great opportunity to share information about your organisation and improve your NGOs overall internet presence.
