An annual tradition in the Pure SEO office has come around again. Each year, one day in February while summer is still in full force, our entire Auckland office spends a day out of the office jumping on a boat (or two) and setting a course for Waiheke Island.
Everyone showed up on the day far too under-dressed for the office, and there was an excited hum in the air. The day was looking to have perfect weather – we were in the middle of a heat wave and there was no better way to be spending it.
Thanks to one of our clients ‘Kozmic Cruises’, we were able to get our hands on their luxury Kozmic 5 powercat for the day. The Auckland office has gone through quite a bit of growth in the past year, so much so that we have outgrown Kozmic 5, which comfortably fits 25 guests. Instead of just leaving a few unlucky people behind, we split the office in half and spread ourselves across two luxury powercat boats.
The ride across to Waiheke was a speedy one! We arrived there in record time, zooming through the Waitemata Harbour and past Rangitoto and Motutapu on the way. We anchored up in the stunning paradise of Church Bay, rafting up the two massive boats so that we could jump between them easily.
The water was clear turquoise and completely wonderful. The second we anchored it was swim time for an eager few, not wasting any time in jumping straight off the back of the boat. The kayaks and paddle boards were a hit with those up for an adventure, and we even had an inflatable unicorn friend for a bit of fun. It was too hot to stay out of the water for most of us, and the few land-huggers among us were even dangling their feet off the back of the boat to cool down.
Lunch was served on board the boats in the form of a big barbecue cook-up – classic Pure SEO style. There was every kind of burger filling you can imagine, even some delicious Beyond Burger patties which were popular among the vegetarians. We sat around the two boats fueling up after an adventurous day, before taking our final dips in the sea and making our way back to the mainland.
It was a fun day had by all, with lots of memories made. We can’t wait for next year to do it all again!

While we’re not always out on the sea, we like to think we bring the fun into our office dynamic too. If you think this kind of work environment sounds like a dream, check out our careers page to see if we have any positions available for you.
