Here at Pure SEO, as members of the business community, we believe it’s important to contribute to the support and success of the communities around us. It’s built into our values as a business. It’s a critical part of our corporate social responsibilities.
It’s of great concern there are more than 100 people sleeping rough in Auckland’s city centre alone, and thousands of vulnerable members of our community are living in unsafe or unsuitable accommodation across the district. The Lifewise Big Sleepout is a fundraiser to tackle this growing issue of homelessness.
The Big Sleepout 2016
Lifewise, as an NGO (Non-Government Organisation), doesn’t receive financial support from the government. Instead, they rely on generous everyday people, benefactors, and other donors to provide support and ensure Lifewise can continue doing important work with the homeless.
So beginning at 6.00 pm on a cold Winter’s Thursday, July 07, business and community leaders will not only learn about the everyday struggles of others and get to experience what it means to ‘sleep rough’, but they will be raising vital funds to house some of our city’s most vulnerable and marginalized citizens. Our GM Koshy Mathew will be one of the business leaders joining for the Big Sleepout (visit his fundraising page here).
Homelessness is a significant issue – but Lifewise believes that with the right approach, it can be solved. Lifewise has a unique no band-aids approach for ending homelessness – they help Aucklanders off the streets and into permanent housing.
Do you want to contribute to help end homelessness? Can you help Koshy with his target of $1500 for this worthwhile charity? If you can help, go to Koshy’s Lifewise Fundraiser page here.
A MESSAGE FROM KOSHY MATHEW:
“On 7 July I will be made homeless. For one cold night in the dead of winter, I will be stripped of my creature comforts, exposed to the elements and given insight into what it means to sleep rough. With only a sleeping bag and a piece of cardboard for bedding, I will be joined by other influential Kiwis as I take a public stand for Auckland’s homeless population at the annual Lifewise Big Sleepout.
For me, being made homeless, albeit temporarily, is a choice. For the thousands of Kiwis, of all ages, who have been made homeless as a result of crippling life circumstances, being homeless is not a choice. It is a devastating reality that demands a compassionate response.
It’s time that we took a stand because, despite all its complications, with the right approach, homelessness can be solved.
EVERY dollar I fundraise will be directly applied to Lifewise’s unique “no band aids” approach to homelessness. The Lifewise response continues to be the most successful answer to the issue of homelessness. So before I bed down on a slab of concrete, I’d love to ask if you might sponsor me. Please back me and please back this worthy cause by digging deep today.”
